No body shaming here - the bounty of nourishing and filling food in the height of late autumn Siena is enough to get you through winter. And, one of those things is the cinta senese or Senese pig. Two of my friends now call me cinta and I think it’s kinda cute.

There’s more about this sweet piggie if you scroll (and I am not talking about myself). I am replacing this November’s sluttiest eats with a deep dive into the splendorous dishes that make Siena the most divine place to host your hibernation preparation retreat.

Fair warning: all the dishes listed are strictly β€œSenese”, especially if you’re in Siena. Do not - I repeat - do not call them Florentine / fiorentina in Senese territory, unless you want to face the fury that comes with the millennium-long battle between the two rival cities. Safe to just call these dishes β€˜Tuscan.’
