My birthday gift to you
because in Rome, you're my guest on my bday, and I am so grateful you came to this pasta party
In good Roman fashion, you are my guest on my birthday.
No, the gift isn’t this embarrassing photo of me putting my edible cake decoration on my face last night.
Essentially, I have two birthdays this year.
No, I was not born on a leap year. Yesterday, February 28th, was my birthday. But, the year I was born was a leap year. So, I believe that a leap year means I get two birthdays - one to celebrate me and one to celebrate having not been born on the 29th.
Plus, I am 28 on 28. A golden year they call it, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Moving on…
A new year of life, and another year of Slutti Spaghetti. Wow, time as we know is like sand. I used to want to move as fast as sand, slipping as quickly as it does through my fingers or the Wicked Witch of the West’s hourglass.
Now I am much more inspired and definitely more chill. Blame it on Italy, age, maturity…who knows? What I do know is that things are much brighter and clearer than last year, and I am grateful for it.
(I was plagued with the flu on my 2023 birthday and it wasn’t cute. I still managed to publish a good sluttiest eats - here is the newsletter to prove it.)
Ok, ok - let’s get to your gift
In Rome, and quite a few parts of Italy, it’s a custom to organize your birthday plans and take care of your guests. It’s a cute idea, but truthfully it showed my inner American.
It’s my birthday. Why do I have to do anything?
Truth is - I like both customs. Either way - it’s your special day. Do what you want with it.
That said - it’s my turn to show my appreciation for you, my subscribers, and my guests at this pasta party of a newsletter. You took a seat at the virtual table and I am so grateful.
So, I am offering 25% off yearly AND MONTHLY paid subscriptions to the Slutti Spaghetti newsletter. With new updates coming to the substack (including MERCH and more sluttiest eats!) I want everyone to be able to take advantage of the future excitement.
A second little present…
Because I have two birthdays, remember?
Footage of me putting my cake decoration on my face. Plus…
A very gorgeous plate of rigatoni alla pajata from Trecca in Rome, to make you a little more hungry for lunch, dinner, or whatever meal comes next, wherever you are!
Sending you all the pasta love
Until the first newsletter of March 2024!
Xx,
Victoria
