Itβs kind of how everything goes during a settimana bianca in Valle DβAosta. Black ice? Glaciers? Traveling up 7000 feet in a wonky funivia? No big deal when you know thereβs going to be cheese at the end.
Honestly I am quite impressed how calmly I handled traveling up the foothills of the Alps at night with black ice hidden at every turn. Granted, in Courmayeur - a well funded ski town in Valle DβAosta (by well-funded I mean the shops lean more Dior than Decathlon) - the roads are rather taken care of. Still, we are in the mountains and there comes a point where you enter zero street lights high beams only territory. It gives horror film. And, I like it.
Especially with all the amazing food awaiting us at the top.
