Weekend Things 🍝 Chapter 12
meatball sandwiches better than your grandmas, champagne, & a lot of cheese
Welcome to Weekend Things - a little round-up of slutti dishes, places, tunes, and surprises from the weekend to help get you through your Monday slump. It’s an easy read, with bits to bookmark, inspire, or just make you giggle
This weekend was indulgently emotional.
Now, don’t worry - this Weekend Things will bring you more hunger than tears that’s for sure. Still, the travels this weekend hit me on another level.
The things eaten, sipped, and more in this newsletter were more than just sensorial experiences - they were special and even nostalgic moments. And the places - I hope you keep them close to your heart. I listed them below for clarity so that you can better understand them throughout the newsletter:
Vico Equense (Campania) - the beginning of the weekend, and the end of a short trip that began last Wednesday. It’s a gastronomic mecca right next to Sorrento, home to three Michelin-starred chefs, the best tomatoes and mozzarella you’ll ever have, and also a dear friend - Lina, co-owner of Trattoria La Sorrentina in North Bergen, New Jersey.
Vico is also apparently the city of cheese so…
Veroli and Arce (Lazio) - Two towns in the heart of Ciociaria, where my family is from. However, these two towns are in the northern part where the culture is slightly different than my family’s area (you can learn more about Ciociaria in my latest newsletter here!) We stopped by here on our way back to check out the fun Fasti Verolani (a big street theater/artist festival) and visit a friend.
So, let’s stop the talking and get into all the eating, sipping, and silly things that you’re reading this newsletter for.
